Estuary Art and Ecology Prize 2017

2nd Place Winner, Longshore Drift by Wendy Hannah

The work Longshore Drift captivated my attention from the very outset. From its luminous surface manifests a seamless exploration between the land, waterways and embodied experiences. The result is a work that reverberates an elusive fluidity and sensation of movement akin to watercolour. Though relatively simple, it commands attention with its convincing sensation of movement that is further evoked through its reflection of the viewer’s movements within the work. It’s a work I had to fight myself not to touch, which is always a good sign.
